Hydrology of the Brabantse Wal – a complex water system
Infographics that make a unique geo-hydrological system understandable
Evides Waterbedrijf supplies millions of households and businesses with drinking water daily. The company manages water sources across diverse and often complex areas, including the Brabantse Wal – a Natura 2000 area where nature and drinking water supply are closely intertwined. Natural values in the Brabantse Wal are under pressure from drought, climate change, and nitrogen deposition. Although research shows no direct link between groundwater extraction and the drying out of fens, persistent concerns and misconceptions exist in the region. Evides wanted to make current insights accessible, to increase understanding and strengthen collaboration with stakeholders.
From misconceptions to understanding.
The infographics clearly map the eco-hydrological system of the Brabantse Wal. The process included a joint kick-off and brainstorm, followed by sketches, iteration sessions, and multiple rounds of feedback. In close collaboration with hydrologists and communications professionals, complex data was translated into accessible visuals. The result: compelling infographics used in presentations, reports, books, and online platforms – contributing to better understanding and constructive collaboration around nature conservation.
